Why Breakfast Drinks Deserve Their Own Column
Many breakfast handwriting newspapers focus on主食 and side dishes, then leave a large empty area with nothing to fill it. Giving drinks their own column solves that problem: drinks appear at breakfast every day, so pupils always have something to write, and cups are easy to draw.
Cups also share the same shape, so a row of them naturally forms a tidy block that fits along the bottom or side of the page.
A Short List of Drinks for the Page
Keep it simple and choose drinks that really appear at home. This list can be copied straight onto the page:
- Warm plain water: a few sips after waking up helps the day start slowly.
- Milk: easy to pair with bread, steamed buns or eggs.
- Soy milk: a familiar partner for fried dough sticks and buns.
- Yogurt: refreshing on warm days, good with fruit and oats.
- Porridge or rice milk: a warm bowl on a cold morning.
- Fresh fruit juice: a change of taste now and then, not a replacement for water.
If there is space left, add a small line underneath: "Milk and soy milk can take turns, they don't have to be the same every day."
Three Easy Ways to Lay Out the Drinks Column
Cups in a Row
Draw four or five cup outlines across the page with slightly different heights. Fill them with soft yellow, blue or pink, and add a few curved lines of steam above the rims. Leave one line of writing under each cup for the drink name and one short note.
Compare Cards
Divide one corner into two or three small boxes. Draw a cup in the top half of each box and write two or three lines underneath. This works well for a question such as "how are milk and soy milk different?"
Morning Timeline
Draw a line from left to right and mark a few small points: waking up, washing, eating breakfast, leaving home. Write "a few sips of warm water" or "a cup of milk" beside the matching point. This links drinks with the rest of the breakfast routine.
Sentences You Can Copy Straight Onto the Page
- The first sip of the day is warm plain water.
- Milk and soy milk take turns, so breakfast never feels the same.
- Sweet drinks now and then, plain water every day.
- Sip slowly, there is still time before school.
- A warm bowl of porridge says good morning to winter.
These lines are short and easy to write, so they fit beside a cup or inside a small tip box.
Colour, Handwriting and Empty Space
Soft light colours suit a drinks column best: milky white, pale blue, light yellow and soft pink. Use a darker colour for the heading and keep the body text in one colour so the page stays readable.
Lightly rule pencil lines before writing so each note under a cup sits in the right place, then erase them afterwards. Empty space matters more than filling every corner, so leave a little room between the cups.
For a small interactive touch, draw a "my breakfast drink tracker" box in one corner with seven little circles. Colour one circle for each day a drink was finished.
When You Need a Layout Shortcut
If time is short, or you are unsure how to arrange the cups and how much text to write, open the WeChat mini program and search for "智慧手抄报". Choose a nutrition breakfast layout, replace the sample text in the drinks column with your own writing, and then draw the page by hand. The layout stays neat while the work is still your own.
